River is a technician and technical leader, whose skills include audio engineering, systems design, front of house mixing, lighting and projection tech, and technical direction. They have a vested interest in teaching and helping technicians who are younger-in-experience, learn and grow. As a leader, they approach their work with care, communication, and a sense of humour and levity. They are of the belief that all people in creative spaces are storytellers in their own right, and bring that attitude into their work in production.

I worked as a Head of Audio under the Technical Direction of Scott Martin, as part of the TD Apprentice Program at TMU.

Highlights included:

  • Front of House Mixing for Outside Looking In (2025) - An annual showcase of Indigenous Youth talent, with musical performances from DJ Shub, Drezus, and Susan Aglukark

  • Assisting with the install and operation of a brand new Adamson Line Array system

  • Front of House Mixing for YOU’RE ALL IN THE BAND (2025), presented by Community Music Schools Toronto, in collaboration with Luminato Festival

I have been a live events technician for the past decade, working everywhere from outdoor musicals in parking lots, and dive bars, to large theatrical venues and gallery spaces.

As a technician, my main goal is to be a quick, organized, and efficient problem solver. I work to make sure that your event is executed smoothly, with precise attention to detail, and creative problem solving. I believe that remaining calm is key to making things run smoothly, especially in an unpredictable environment. I specialize in Live Sound Engineering and Mixing.

As a technical director, I prioritize communication, clarity, and organization. I aim to make sure that we have a plan and a way to execute it, ensuring that bumps are smoothed out before they happen, and are handled with care and urgency.
